Bulls News: Seiya Suzuki injury update

by - Senior Editor -

Not great news for the Northsiders.

Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki has been battling a finger injury since May 26, when his left finger got jammed into second base while sliding.

The latest is that the finger is not healing up fast.

“It’s just going really slowly,” Cubs manager David Ross said Saturday during pre-game. “He wants to be back in there bad. But the finger doesn’t look great. It’s really stayed almost status quo.”

Chicago Cubs President of Operations Jed Hoyer said that Suzuki really wants to hit the batting cages, and that might not be the best course of action right now.

“Part of the challenge we’re dealing with is he really wants to play,” Hoyer said. “Our sense is to try to be prudent about it. We’re fighting a competitive guy.”

For the season, Suzuki is batting .245 with four homers and 21 RBIs.

Hopefully, Suzuki will get some rest with that finger and be back 100 percent sooner than later.
