Start’em or Sit’em for Fantasy Football: Bears vs. Commanders |
Finally, the Broncos game was a good fantasy week for Chicago Bears players. Quarterback Justin Fields threw four touchdown passes, receiver DJ Moore got involved early and had another touchdown and running back Khalil Herbert finally had a 100-yard rushing game.
Will this continue against the Commanders?
If you started Fields last week, it definitely worked out for you. He had his best fantasy performance of the season by far, with 335 passing yards and four touchdown passes. However, the Commanders are considerably better than Denver. The Broncos have allowed the most passing touchdowns through the first four weeks of the season with 13, while the Commanders have only allowed six. Further, Washington is tied for seventh in the NFL in sacks with 13. This is the best sacking team the Bears have gone against, and Fields has a probable with fumbles, particularly under pressure. He already has been sacked 17 times and fumbled the ball four times. Therefore, do not expect another big performance out of Fields.Justin Fields - Sit
DJ Moore - Start
Moore has established himself as a consistent start in fantasy. He has had a minimum of six targets every game since the season opener. The Chiefs game was the only time where he did not catch more than 50% of his targets, but that game got out of hand quickly. Moore also has some momentum, given that he has a receiving touchdown in his last two games. It took a little time for the chemistry to develop between Moore and Fields. Now that it has, fantasy owners can certainly capitalize.
Khalil Herbert - Start
Prior to the Broncos game, Herbert was splitting the backfield with rookie Roschon Johnson. But Herbert was clearly the No. 1 in this game. While Johnson only had five rushing attempts, Herbert had 18. Herbert also finally made something of his carries, getting 103 rushing yards. This was Herbert’s first 100-yard game since Week 3 of last season in the Bears’ win against the Houston Texans. The Commanders are the No. 21 rushing defense in the NFL, meaning Herbert should have some good opportunities against them, particularly since they are allowing an average of one rushing touchdown per game. As a bonus, Herbert has had at least one reception in every game, meaning he has a little extra benefit in points-per-reception (PPR) leagues. He has a good matchup and has finally definitively become the top back.
Cole Kmet - Start in PPR Leagues
There is something that Kmet loves about the fall. Once it hits October and November, Kmet just does better. That is how his whole career has gone. However, his targets have been high throughout the season. While the Broncos game was a season-high (nine), he still has at least six targets in every game with the exception of the Chiefs game. Throughout his career, his highest completion percentage is in the month of October, with a 71.7% completion percentage. If he is catching that many balls next week, coupled with his targets, he should put up decent points in any PPR league. His yardage is not enough to justify starting him in non-PPR leagues. But in PPR leagues, his points from his receptions help to give him a decent fantasy performance.
Darnell Mooney - Sit
After Mooney’s four receptions for 51 yards, there might be some out there considering putting him in the flex in 10- or 12-team leagues. There are more consistent options out there than Mooney. However, he may be someone to keep around on your bench, especially as more and more injuries are popping up on other teams. If this happens to someone in the Bears’ receiving core, Mooney could get elevated to a starting spot.
