The Chicago Cubs dropped eight runs in the first inning of Tuesday night's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. It was the most runs scored by any team in the first inning this season. Cubs outfielder Willson Contreras crushed a grand slam in the first inning to put the Cubs up 8-0. It was the 100th homer of his career and the season's fifth. He also had a double earlier in the inning, and he is currently slashing .291 with 164 wRC+ and .931 OPS. Contreras was seen emotional in the dugout after hitting the historic blast. He is the 10th leadoff hitter with a first-inning grand slam since 1901.
