New Cubs announcer Jon Scambi is preparing for chilly weather in Chicago:

Sorta shocking news as former Cubs reliever Jeremy Jeffress has been released by the Nationals. He recently signed a minor-league deal with the ballclub, and Dave Martinez had said that he was pitching impressively.

"He looks great," Martinez told the media last week. "I watched him throw...the ball was coming out really nice."

Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo told the media today, “He was released for personnel reasons.”

Could the Cubs offer him a similar deal, or do they have way too many arms already?
