WATCH: David Ross reacts to Morel and Hughes debuts

by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Cubs manager David Ross spoke with the media following his team's 7-0 shutout win against the Pirates on Tuesday night.

"That was fun," Ross said to the media.

Ross talked about the impressive performances from his rookie pitcher Brandon Hughes and infielder Christopher Morel.

Hughes became the first pitcher in the modern era to get five or more outs in his MLB debut with all of them coming via strikeout, and Morel homered in his first MLB at-bat.

"He’s like, 'you’re gonna see me this year.' He reminded me of that when I congratulated him on being here this morning," Ross said about Morel. "That’s impressive."
