Bulls News: Kyle Hendricks injury update |
The Professor might be done for 2022.
Chicago Cubs pitcher Kyle Hendricks had another MRI on his shoulder strain on Monday as they try to assess the issue whether it is muscle-type injury or something torn. Cubs President of Operations Jed Hoyer told reporters that the priority is to make sure that Hendricks rebounds for a healthy 2023 season. “The most important thing for us is that he gets healthy for next year. The most important thing is that we know going into the offseason where he is. I think he feels the same way. I’d love it if he pitches again this year but I wouldn’t want to push anything to do so. So we’ll get the follow-up MRI and see where he is. And then that’ll kind of give us a sense of what we do next. We definitely want to make sure we’re working his way back, if for no other reason to make sure that we know what his health is and he knows what his health is going into the offseason so he can have a really productive offseason.” Hendricks was placed on the 15-day IL on July 6 after leaving the game and has already went through one MRI. He had a 4-6 record for the season with a 4.80 ERA and 1.29 WHIP.
