MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Chicago Cubs today recalled catcher/designated hitter Moisés Ballesteros from Triple-A Iowa. In a corresponding move, infielder Vidal Bruján has been designated for assignment. Additionally, right-handed pitcher Porter Hodge has been reinstated from the 15-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A.

Ballesteros, 21, is hitting .332 (112-for-337) with 26 doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 57 RBI and a .889 OPS in 86 games with Iowa this season. He leads all qualified I-Cubs hitters in average, ranks second in RBI and third in OPS. In July, he is slashing .351/.417/.514 across 19 games, including a 10-game hitting streak (.425/17-for-40) to start the month. The left-handed hitter made his major league debut on May 13, 2025, in a start against the Marlins. In his five-game stint with the Cubs in May, he played in five games, recording his first career hit and RBI on May 16, and batted .188 (3-for-16) with three RBI.

Bruján, 27, appeared in 36 games with the Cubs, including 10 starts, and hit .222 (10-for-45) with three doubles, three RBI and two stolen bases.

Hodge, 24, was placed on the 15-day injured list on May 18 with a left oblique strain.

The Cubs play the Milwaukee Brewers today at 1:10 p.m. CT at American Family Field in a game that can be seen on Marquee Sports Network and heard on 670 the Score and, in Spanish, on WRTO 1200 AM.
