Former Chicago Cubs star Sammy Sosa spoke to the media before the Giants game to discuss his emotions around being back at spring training, what his conversations with players have been and much more.

“It’s great, man; I feel like I’m playing again,” Sosa said about being in the dugout. “But it’s good. All the players are happy for me to be here. I have a lot to contribute here. I believe that the opportunity is here, so I'm enjoying it. I’m enjoying it right now.”

Sosa is also there to help out anyone who needs it.

“I worked hard every day. Every day,” Sosa said. “I’m happy to explain to anyone or everyone who wants to listen to me.”

Craig Counsell is happy from the help from Sosa and other Cubs greats.

“We just ask our players to just have conversations,” Counsell said. “I think you gain from the experience. Sammy spent a lot of time in the box and people designing ways to try to get him out. Just that knowledge and experience from the batter’s box is a lot to offer.”
