WATCH: Morel blasts walk-off homer against White Sox, rips off jersey |
Chicago Cubs utility player Christopher Morel hit a 3-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to walk off the rival White Sox on Wednesday night.
Morel sprinted around the bases in pure happiness and eventually ripped off his jersey in the celebration with his teammates on the field. The Cubs and White Sox split the two-game series. "Thank you GOD and Cubs win," Morel said in the postgame interview moments after the homer. "Thank you for the fans. They gave me the energy for supporting me and believing in myself." Ross had great things to say about Morel after the win. “What a great swing, great environment,” manager David Ross said. “Christopher Morel, he’s just so electric. That ball’s smoked. A line drive to get over the basket like that, that exit velocity — I haven’t even seen it all. Crazy, crazy swing.” Check out the epic homer and celebration below: Christopher Morel blasted a walkoff bomb and his reaction is as good as it gets pic.twitter.com/HrpN0yICMR More highlights and reactions to the memorable game:
