Bulls News: Injury updates on Cody Bellinger, Seiya Suzuki |
Chicago Cubs standout center fielder Cody Bellinger has been sidelined with two fractured ribs after he collided with the ivy-covered walls at Wrigley Field recently.
Bellinger was placed on the injured list last week, and most timelines had him out at least a month or two. However, according to Cubs sideline reporter Taylor McGregor, he might return a lot sooner than expected. "Cody Bellinger has resumed light baseball activities as he ramps up," she said during Monday night's telecast. "They're just paying attention to the way his body feels and Seiya Suzuki maybe a couple of weeks behind him - it's been about two weeks since he suffered that oblique injury and still about two weeks out. He'll probably have to go on a rehab assignment. And then quickly back to Cody Bellinger, there is hope that as he ramps up he could come off his the IL not long after his 10-day stint." This is excellent news for the Cubs, as it sounds plausible that Bellinger could be back for the three-game series at home against the rival Milwaukee Brewers. 'Belli' is hitting .226 with five homers and 17 RBIs this season. Suzuki should be back around two weeks after that. He was sizzling to start the season with a .305 average with three homers and 13 RBIs.
