Carl Edwards Jr. signs with Cubs |
The String Bean Slinger is back!
The Chicago Cubs have agreed with free agent reliever Carl Edwards Jr. on a minor league deal, according to multiple reports on Friday night. The deal includes an invite to spring training. He had an impressive 3.69 ERA in 31.2 innings with the Washington Nationals last season. His season ended prematurely with shoulder inflammation and a scapula fracture. The 32-year-old has had a 3.07 ERA in the previous two seasons. Edwards was part of the iconic 2016 World Series team with the Cubs. This should be fun to monitor as Edwards Jr. tries to win a bullpen job out of spring training. Is CJ Edwards coming back to the Cubs? This was posted from his IG.
