Cubs make several roster moves

by - Senior Editor -

Spring roster cuts have started around major league baseball.

The Chicago Cubs announced several rosters moves on Saturday as Duncan Robinson, Ian Clarkin, Alberto Baldonaldo, Craig Brooks, Carlos Ramirez, Colin Rea, Ian Rice, Charcer Burks, Evan Marzilli, and Jacob Hannemann were sent to minor league camp.

The Cubs also optioned Justin Steele and Oscar De La Cruz to Double-A Tennessee while Adbert Alzolay and Jen-Ho Tseng were optioned to Iowa.

Alzolay and Steele were not able to appear in a spring training game because of injuries.

Rob Scahill was granted a release after his two spring training appearances with an 11.57 ERA. The Cubs released him not during the first round of cuts so that he can have the opportunity to land with another ballclub.

The Cubs roster now sits at 54 players (28 pitchers, 26 positional) after all of these moves.
