Cubs make several roster moves

CHICAGO — After designating Ian Miller and Josh Phegley for assignment earlier in the week, the Chicago Cubs assigned the outfielder and catcher to South Bend, Ind., on Thursday. The Cubs also released veteran relievers Cody Allen and A.J. Ramos, bringing their 60-man player pool to 59.

Miller and Phegley, who have not garnered very much playing time with the Cubs this season, were DFA'd in the wake of the Cubs acquiring multiple players at the trade deadline and activating multiple players off the injured list this week. Allen and Ramos, who was only just signed over the weekend, never appeared in a game for the Cubs.
