Bears trade Justin Fields to Steelers |
The Justin Fields era is over in the Windy City.
The Chicago Bears are trading quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers according to multiple reports on Saturday. The Bears will receive a 2025 6th-round pick that goes to a fourth-rounder based if he plays 51% of the snaps or more next season according to reports. Fields will now compete with veteran Russell Wilson for the Steelers' quarterback job. Fields went to X and posted a classy statement to the city of Chicago. "Can’t say thank you enough to the city of Chicago for taking me in and embracing me," Fields wrote. "Thank you to the entire Bears organization and ownership for allowing me the opportunity to be part of such a historic franchise. But most of all thank you to my all my brothers that I played with. You all were the reason I attacked each day the way I did. I can’t thank you all enough for what y’all have meant to me over the last 3 years through the ups and downs. I wish each one of you nothing but success. Ready for this next chapter!" In 2023, Fields completed 61.4% of his passes for 2,562 yards with 16 passing touchdowns and nine interceptions in 13 games. He also rushed for 657 yards. With the Bears overall, Fields threw for 6,674 yards and 40 touchdowns with 30 interceptions. He also had 2,220 rushing yards and 14 scores. He was 10-28 in 38 starts with Chicago. Bears general manager Ryan Poles released the following statement after trading away Fields. “We have engaged in multiple trade conversations in recent weeks and believe trading Justin at this time to Pittsburgh is what is best for both Justin and the Bears. Today we spoke to Justin to inform him of the trade and the rationale behind it for us as a Club. We want to thank him for his tireless dedication, leadership and all he poured into our franchise and community the last three years and wish him the best towards a long and successful NFL career." For the Bears, all eyes are on the No. 1 overall pick and their selection of possibly Caleb Williams. “I just want to go to a place that wants to win,” Williams said at the NFL Combine. “The whole 360, from the top all the way to the guys and down to the janitors, the people that make everything run. Just everybody wants to win, everybody is a part of that and we all take care of each other. “I don’t play for fame. I don’t play for money. I don’t play for jewels and things like that. It’s to go out there and win as many games as possible and be the best that I can.” 🚨 🚨 🚨 The Chicago Bears are trading quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers, source confirms. 🚨QB Justin Fields has been traded to the Steelers in exchange for a 6th round pick pic.twitter.com/CbMtPmijlc With the first overall pick… pic.twitter.com/Pj4pNvPTlk 3 of the 5 QBs taken in the 2021 first round have now been traded: Have said all along - THIS was best landing spot. It took a while but this could NOT have worked out better for Justin Fields. #Steelers #Bears https://t.co/Z5sINJUGHX Russell Wilson cooking on the Steelers sideline next year pic.twitter.com/6QmfgZAg7w Business is Business its time pic.twitter.com/Msu5bDdQXo I wish things had gone differently for Justin Fields. The Bears failed him. I’m rooting for him in Pittsburgh. But Caleb Williams is the future and I’m happy we can stop with all the turmoil and move forward #InPolesWeTrust Today isn’t easy but it’s a business. The Bears are trading QB Justin Fields to the Steelers, per reports. pic.twitter.com/8m4FZiyRUt I don’t know why the @ChicagoBears did this deal now. If they hung onto Fields until training camp and somebody went down, they would get much more value in return. They should’ve been more patient and waited. Steelers QB Russell Wilson will start in Pittsburgh and Justin Fields will back him up, a team source told ESPN’s @bepryor. It is what it is. There’s a lot of reasons why things didn’t pan out for Justin Fields. But he’s off to the Steelers for a conditional sixth-round pick (sources confirm, not that you needed it). It’s on to the 2024 draft. This team has been built for a rookie QB to step in. The Bears are so smart to trade Fields while the whole city is drunk A 2025 6th round pick that potentially turns into a 4th for Justin Fields? MY GAWD, the Chicago Bears completely mismanaged the Justin Fields trade market this offseason. I’m excited. I’m sad. Justin Fields getting traded on a Saturday when chunks of the city have been drinking for roughly twelve hours is wild man Justin Fields and Kenny Pickett, recent first-rounders, were traded for ham sandwiches. For three years, Justin Fields brought heart, hustle and muscle to every snap, making big plays and inspiring Bears fans of all ages with his drive and determination.

3. Trey Lance ➡️ Cowboys for a 2024 4th round pick
11. Justin Fields ➡️ Steelers for a conditional 2025 4th or 6th round pick
15. Mac Jones ➡️ Jaguars for a 2026 6th round pick
Caleb Williams is going to be electric for this team.
I wish Justin nothing but THE BEST.
