Bears sign standout RB to three-year deal |
The Chicago Bears are making moves in the early stages of free agency.
The team has agreed to a three-year, $24.5 million deal with running back D'Andre Swift which includes $15.3 million guaranteed. The deal is pending a physical. Swift was impressive with the Eagles last season with a career-high 1,049 rushing with five touchdowns on 229 carries. The 24-year-old has averaged 4.6 YPC across four NFL seasons and is also a capable receiver out of the backfield with 195 career catches for 1,412 yards and eight scores. He will be a big piece of the new offense under new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. Swift was drafted by the Lions in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. More to come on this breaking news story. Love this for Chi—-swift really good back in the zone scheme and a very good pass catch threat https://t.co/xxiUQ7hDOA D'Andre Swift will have a lot of value in Waldron's scheme. D'Andre Swift is cheaper, younger, and has less mileage than Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs. #Bears D’Andre Swift is signing with the Chicago Bears, per @Schultz_Report pic.twitter.com/v07bchgQ8I The Bears have a new RB1 🔥 pic.twitter.com/RUSKKOJBbL
The money is a bit rich, but the guarantees basically run out after Year 2. Not a handcuff for a useful player.
