The Chicago Bears selected Rutgers University running back Kyle Monangai with the No. 233 overall pick in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Monangai joins the Bears after earning First-Team All-Big Ten Conference recognition in 2024, rushing for a career-high 1,279 yards, the second-most by any player in the Big Ten. A two-time team captain, Monangai appeared in 52 career games (35 starts) over five seasons of action (2020-24), rushing 669 times for 3,221 yards (4.8 avg.) and 27 rushing touchdowns, eclipsing 1,200 yards on the ground each of the last two seasons. Monangai's 1,279-yard output in 2024 registered as the fourth-most rushing yards in a season in program history. A Second-Team All-Big Ten selection in 2023, Monangai led the conference with 1,262 yards, claiming Most Valuable Player honors in the Scarlet Knights' victory in the Pinstripe Bowl. Monangai set Rutgers' program record for most touches (669 rushing attempts, 38 receptions) without a fumble. A native of Roseland, N.J., Monangai attended Don Bosco Prep, where he guided the Ironmen to the final round of the NJSIAA Non-Public Group 4 Tournament after rushing for over 900 yards and 11 touchdowns, adding more than 400 yards receiving and another five scores, as a senior, being named First Team All-Bergen County on offense by NJ.com.
