A change had to be made.

The Chicago Bears announced that they have fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron on Tuesday.

"After evaluating our entire operation, I decided that it is in the best interest of our team to move in a different direction with the leadership of our offense. This decision was well-thought-out, one that was conducted deliberately and respectfully,” announced head coach Matt Eberflus. “I would like to thank Shane for his efforts and wish him the best moving forward.”

Waldron only lasted nine games of the 2024 season.

Thomas Brown has been promoted as the new offensive coordinator.

"Thomas is a bright offensive mind who has experience calling plays with a collaborative mindset," Eberflus said. "I look forward to his leadership over our offensive coaching staff and his plan for our players."

He has experience calling plays, having been the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers in 2023.

The Bears have only scored 27 points in the last three games and have not scored a touchdown in the last two contests.

The three-game losing streak dropped the Bears to 4-5 and last place in the NFC North.

More to come on this breaking news.
