WATCH: Schwarber captured on camera being great teammate

by - Senior Writer -

During the emotional debacle surrounding the horrible foul-ball incident in Wednesday night's game at Minute Maid Park between the Chicago Cubs and the Houston Astros, Cubs center fielder Albert Almora Jr., who hit the foul ball that struck a little girl sitting in the stands, was predictably followed by cameras as he headed for the dugout following the conclusion of the ill-fated at-bat. Although Almora was able to gather himself and finish his at-bat after becoming incredibly emotional over the young fan being struck by the foul ball, he became emotional again once he took a seat in the dugout.

Almora is close friends with fellow Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber, with the two entering the majors just a year apart and spending their entire careers with the Cubs up to this point. Therefore, Schwarber was understandably looking out for his pal during Almora's time of grief and showcased just how great of a teammate he is when a camera operator positioned a camera in the direction of an inconsolable Almora in the dugout. Schwarber noticed the camera and quickly stood right beside Almora in order to block the shot and protect Almora's heart-wrenching anguish from being broadcast for all to see. Almora deserved to have a private moment of sorrow all to himself, and Schwarber helped to make that possible by stepping in and exemplifying what being a teammate is all about.
