Report: Cubs to call up prospect Alexander Canario |
A reinforcement is coming for the Northsiders.
According to ESPN's Jesse Rogers, the Chicago Cubs are calling up outfield prospect Alexander Canario. There is no word yet on if/who is headed to the IL list that Canario is taking the spot on the big league team. This is just speculation, but it could be Seiya Suzuki, as he was limping (hammy or quad) running the bases on Sunday. Canario is hitting .269 this season for the I-Cubs. He is very versatile, as he can play all three outfield spots and has the slugging ability to hit DH. Last season, he was 5-for-17 after his late season call-up. This could be *way* off and I could be freaking out everyone, but I did think Seiya Suzuki ran awkwardly through 1B in the 8th yesterday. He held up on a bang-bang play, which seemed uncharacteristic for him. “Just in that last at-bat, when I was running, there was some sudden discomfort that I felt.”
