Cody Bellinger makes decision on his player option with Cubs |
More 'Belli' time for the Northsiders.
Chicago Cubs outfielder Cody Bellinger has picked up his $27.5 million player option for the 2025 season and will not be a free agent. ESPN was the first to report the news. The 29-year-old signed a three-year, $80 million deal with player options for the 2025 and 2026 seasons. Bellinger hit .266 with 23 doubles, 18 homers, and nine stolen bases in 2024. This likely means that Bellinger will be the starting right fielder in 2025 as Seiya Suzuki will stay at his designated hitter role mostly. .@ColeWright on Cody Bellinger's decision to return to the @Cubs in 2025. pic.twitter.com/RmA83WglDB Cody Bellinger did not opt out of his contract and will return to the Cubs in 2025. pic.twitter.com/o6AU4ffPHT
