Bulls News: Maddon updates Javy Baez's injury status |
Cubs second baseman Javy Baez was drilled in the left elbow by a two-seam fastball by Cardinal pitcher Jack Flaherty in the third inning of Sunday's rivalry game.
Baez fell to the ground for several minutes as he received medical attention from the Cubs trainer. He eventually got off the field and went to the clubhouse. Addison Russell replaced him in the game. Cubs manager Joe Maddon was interviewed in-game by ESPN and thinks that the elbow injury isn't going to be serious. "It got him right in the elbow," Maddon said. "You know how your hand goes numb at that particular time. You just can’t get the feel back. I don’t think it is anything serious but right now it is going to hurt all night and into tomorrow." Update: Cubs said that Javier Baez has a left elbow contusion, but he will likely get an X-ray as a precaution.
