Bulls News: Cody Bellinger injury update |
Chicago Cubs standout outfielder Cody Bellinger awkwardly fell after an infield hit in the first inning of Tuesday's game against the Minnesota Twins.
Bellinger remained in the game but was out of the lineup on Wednesday. Cubs fans hoped he didn't re-injure his knee or have some leg issue. “He came in today, and his hamstring was just a little sore,” Counsell said in pregame on Wednesday. “So we’ll see how he feels as the day goes on, but just try to give him a day.” Counsell feared the worst when he saw Bellinger fall to the ground yesterday. “I was very concerned seeing it live,” Counsell said. “I think we’re fine. I thought there was a knee thing seeing it at first. But he’s just got a little hamstring soreness, probably from hyperextending it there.” Bellinger is pretty banged up, as he is still having issues with his fractured fingers. He is only playing DH and not playing the field currently. “He’s still struggling throwing,” Counsell said recently. “That tells you he’s still feeling it hitting. When he tries to make throws with intent, it’s not very enjoyable. We’re making progress. It’s just going a little slower." For the season, Bellinger has hit .273 with 11 homers and 43 RBIs.
