DJ Moore talks first win with Bears |
CHICAGO - Wide receiver DJ Moore has certainly made his mark in Chicago. He had established himself as a productive receiver even before the game against the Washington Commanders.
Moore had three touchdowns, the most of his career. Further, he has now had three consecutive games with at least one touchdown, something he has never done in his six-year career. He already has over 500 receiving yards, putting him on track to break the franchise record for most receiving yards in a season. Brandon Marshall set the record back in 2012 with 1,508 receiving yards. However, even with all of his success and potential for future success, he is more concerned with winning than individual accomplishments. “It felt amazing to get the first win under our belts and have that momentum going into the next game,” Moore said. “We just needed a win, get the mojo going in our favor, and it’s time to just carry that over into the weeks coming.” Some elite receivers are worried about getting the ball enough. Moore is not one of them. He is truly the definition of a team player who is fine with anything it takes for the Bears to win. Still, it seems, particularly after Thursday night, that success in Chicago will lie in the hands of Moore after getting the second-most receiving yards in a game out of any receiver in franchise history (Alshon Jeffery set the record with 249 in December of 2013). “I’m not really too worried if I get the ball a lot of anything like that. But when I get the ball, I just want to be able to make a positive play out of it, and that’s what’s been happening, so I look forward to it,” Moore said. “It was just fun. Football is fun. I was out there playing a kid’s game at the end of the day. I just looked at it that way, and tonight was just the stars aligned and all glory to God for us, and I’m just happy for it.” All of the talk for the Minnesota Vikings is typically surrounded by their elite receiver Justin Jefferson. But even this three-time Pro-Bowler has not had a game like Moore had against the Commanders. Moore will have the opportunity for another elite performance going against the Vikings, who have allowed 11 passing touchdowns through four games so far this season, which is the most in the league. This game promises to be quite the receiving showdown, with the No. 1 receiver in yards per game in Jefferson going against Moore, who is No. 6 in the league in that category. This divisional matchup will also be to determine who will become third in the division versus last after the first six weeks.
