ESPN's Stephen A. Smith on Justin Fields and Bears: "It's a bad, bad situation" |
The Chicago Bears are off to an ugly 0-2 start after a lot of roster turnover that made many think they could be contenders for a playoff spot.
Bears franchise quarterback Justin Fields threw for 211 yards but had two costly interceptions, including a pick-six in the 27-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this past Sunday. PFF rated him a mediocre 49.1 passing grade for the 16-for-29 passing. ESPN's Stephen A. Smith went off on the Bear organization, believing that they aren't doing Fields any favors in his development as a quarterback. “I’m tell you what I see in Justin Fields. I see somebody that’s not being developed. I see somebody that’s not growing, and more importantly, I see apathy kicking in if not despondency,” Smith said on First Take on Monday. “He knows what kind of situation he’s in. He doesn’t want to be there, and I don’t blame him one bit.” “It is a bad, bad situation from the top on down,” Smith continued. “He has no help whatsoever.” "I can't look at Justin Fields with that talent and say that's him. ... If this brother was in another organization he wouldn't look like this."@stephenasmith says the Bears are a "bad, bad situation" for Justin Fields 😳 pic.twitter.com/pwHA0safk5
